The Challenge

Every day thousands of horses around the world suffer.

Some travel for days in overcrowded lorries to slaughter, some work until they drop to feed their poverty-stricken Third World owner’s families, some starve through uncaring neglect in an English shed.

Operating internationally, World Horse Welfare (formally the ILPH) is one of the world’s leading equine welfare charities and improves the lives of many of these horses.

Their political campaigners, international training teams, UK Field Officers and Rehabilitation Centres are all working towards a world where the horse is used but never abused.

They are a caring and practical organisation which relies totally on the support of the general public to continue.

Central to the work of World Horse Welfare (formally the ILPH) UK Operations is the recovery, rehabilitation and re-homing of abused and neglected horses and ponies.
Their UK Operations office team at World Horse Welfare Headquarters, nationwide team of Field Officers and four Recovery and Rehabilitation Centres (R&R Centres) all work closely together towards this end.

Dealing with over 20,000 enquiries per year, the UK Operations office team is responsible for advising on equine welfare concerns, the co-ordination of Field Officers responses, administration of World Horse Welfare (formally the ILPH)loan scheme, and offering rehabilitation and general advice, as well as many other tasks.
